Richard DeNapoli Qualifies in HD 74 by Petition (First!)
Richard DeNapoli announced he raised more than enough petitions to qualify for the House District 74 election in November.
“Too often in politics the big checks make big headlines,” DeNapoli says in an email to supporters. “But I wanted you to be the first to know …”
“Our team reached this goal today through direct voter contact. Each voter who signed a petition was contacted by someone from our team and chose to sign.”Critics have questioned DeNapoli’s little time in the area, the district that covers Osprey, Venice and parts of North Port and Englewood.
The Nokomis Republican had recently relocated from Broward County, where he served as Treasurer and Chair of the Broward Republican Party.Receiving the required 1,154 petition signatures — other than clearly showing “fiscal conservatism in action” by not having to pay the $1,781.82 fee — DeNapoli demonstrates to detractors that he does have grassroots community support.
“It is a testament to hard work, a positive message, and a firm grasp on issues important to voters that this milestone was achieved. The overwhelming show of support – both at the grassroots through petitions and financially – is very energizing,” he says.
